Well we are having a holiday I Mauritius.

It started OK but traffic hold up within 20 minutes, delay about 30 minutes otherwise non eventful to Gatwick airport.

Lucky we have the airport lounge passes, beats trying to find seats and paying extortionate amounts for a coffee and Burger or breakfast and all help yourself.

We are holidaying with TUI at the Sensimar Lagoon Hotel, very nice it is to but the air flight not good. The Dreamliner is anything but for a flight of more than 6 hours and I am being generous, not very comfortable, not enough toilets for cabbage class OK if you are up front, hoi ploy not welcomed, flight attendance not living up to their title ATTENDANT, poor service I think they must have rationed the water supply, they should be keeping people hydrated, but there rant over.

Arrived at the hotel, it’s in the north of the island sitting on it’s own with nice beach area and three good pools .

First day very cloudy but warm, but we are flagging after flight so expecting better second day, not so, still warm and you could feel the sun behind some of the clouds so we have gone ahead and booked a couple of trips and some diving.

First trip we are being taken on a tour to the south via a few stops . a 9.00 pick up .

Well it has now started to rain whilst we are waiting for our personal guide.this is our third day, still no sun.

We are on our way now to the botanical garden’s, it is now absolutely tipping down. Got to the gardens entrance just as it was closing because of the flooding in the gardens, we had been informed that it will be closed the next day also so we pushed on to the next stop, a position in which to see all the island from one the high points. Well if you look through a plastic milk bottle, that’s how clear it was visibility about 10 feet.

Like this.

Then to the dormant volcano crater, still slight rain, next the lake where the Hindu see as sacred, they have a festival once every year to pay homage to Sheba, this is a huge festival for the 500,000 Hindu that live here, they can spend up to three days walking to the lake all food and place’s to sleep are set up by volunteers so the next week will be extremely busy on all routes to the statues and lake. It has already started when we got to the lake still very wet.

On then to the gorge, within the national park , the rain has stopped and we take the short walk to the edge to view over the area, we can now see to the coast in the distance but strong winds blowing, first time I have seen rain going uphill ? In the park are monkey’s but this weather has kept them away so we had our lunch there.

Then to this peculiar land mass behind us.

Then on to the south coast, bone dry high cloud still no sun Ashley our driver took us along the scenic coastal route back as we had plenty of time to kill.

Well on the route back into the torrential rain as we crossed the mountain back. On returning to hotel we found it had poured all day and had just stopped, within 30 minutes cleared up and the sun threatened to come out, but a bit late.

Restaurants all OK good variety, from street food to very good cuisine.

So next day we had booked a day out on the catamaran BBQ and drink, snorkeling etc. Great start sky breaking suns out.

We sail past the little red church for a look and then to our first snorkeling spot, sea is warm and clear all good. Finished then of to next spot and drinks, guess what the weather is turning getting choppy now but hey can still snorkel. Not much time in the water a bit murky. Back to boat should then be BBQ on an island beach.. But no the visibility has dropped raining, oops that’s it trip stopped and back to hotel, very good about this and we are regoing next week same trip.

We have returned about midday, just in time for lunch, went to a Small but very nice bar at the very end of resort, beautiful and they are the only restaurant that does a great burger and chip’s local food ,great. We took our time and watched the rain crashing down, but at 2.30 it stopped and cleared sunny. So I little bit of tanning happening.

Evening meal then stopped for drinks on the veranda and watched the entertainment.

Up early today suns absolutely blazing, this is more like it , just lazily taken the day in.

We are trying our hand at local cooking, we are cooking our own lunch, chicken curry well it was great.

Well more.beach now.
